Schedule: Weekly

Time: 3PM - 7PM

Instructor Arrival Time 2:30- 730 PM

Instruction Hours: 4 

Total Hours: 4.5 - 5 



GENERAL PURPOSE

 The role of the part-time sewing and fashion design in clothing/fabrics, jewelry, and knitting. Sewing and craft experience can be minimal, but the desire to work with youth is a must. The instructor must be enthusiastic, cheerful, and dependable. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

 

  • Instruct and engage students through sewing and crafting using a variety of different learning style techniques to support students through their tasks. 
  • Provide instruction that encourages students to understand and appreciate fashion and jewelry design.
  • Encourage students to express their own personalities and thoughts through the creative process
  • Assess and evaluate student's performance on a regular basis
  • Provide feedback to relevant stakeholders about each participant's progress
  • Create an environment that is conducive to learning space at FATE Creative Arts Space
  • Set and maintain acceptable standards of classroom behavior to establish an orderly learning environment
  • Show students how to properly use and care for materials, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

 Sewing instructors must be experienced with sewing machines and skilled at helping kids work safely with them. Our program uses basic sewing machines and jewelry-making techniques geared towards beginners. Some simple troubleshooting may be required. i.e. Adjusting tension, oiling the machine, freeing a stuck piece of thread, etc. 


Experience in Instruction a plus, but not required. Must pass Background Screening. Must have CPR and/or take training, Reliable Transportation to and from FATE’s Creative Space, and Proof of Current Car Insurance.
